Isuri eepos / Izhorian Epic
Veljo Tormis is one of Estonia's most famous composers, renowned above all for his choral music. His Forgotten Peoples is a cycle of six suites, each devoted to one of the Balto-Finnic peoples whose languages and songs have all but disappeared. The Izhorian Epic is dedicated to the Izhorian people and is based on their traditional folk songs and melodies. Tormis' style is melodically appealing and ideally suited to singers, and his works have enthralled audiences all over the world. Duration ca 30 minutes.
