Finland is a land of great natural beauty, our treasures, which are to be found all around. It is known as a country of a thousand lakes with 70% of the land covered in forest. Lakes, forest and clean air is enjoyed by everyone. In Finland there is a policy regarding everyone's rights that means all the people can walk and pick berries and mushrooms in any forest across Finland. Of course, you cannot enter anyone's garden without permission, but forests are free.
Finland values nature and wants people to enjoy everything offered. However, everyone has a responsibility to take good care of what nature offers. Therefore, it is important that when you hike, play or walk you must clear up your campsite and remove any items you used and leave everything as you found it. With these rights of freedom comes a responsibility for everyone to respect the land.

Sirpa Pursiainen is a Finnish writer whose hobbies are photography and following the Northern Lights. This book is illustrated with beautiful images of Finnish nature captured by the author. Sirpa holds a Master´s degree in Social Sciences from Tampere University. She has travelled in over 40 countries, and she has seen all kind of wonders of nature.
