Einojuhani Rautavaara (1928-2016) wrote his Sonetto for Clarinet and Piano in 1969 for the debut concert of Finnish clarinetist Martin Fagerlund in 1970. The name "Sonetto" refers to a smallish work; the composer wanted it to be a concert piece and 'clarinettish', i.e. to sound as if it required a virtuoso to play it, but without containing unsurmountable technical difficulties. Einojuhani Rautavaara (s. 1928) sävelsi Sonettonsa klarinetille ja pianolle vuonna 1969 suomalaisen klarinetistin Martin Fagerlundin ensikonserttiin (v. 1970). Nimi Sonetto viittaa pienehköön teokseen; säveltäjän mielestä sen tuli toimia konserttikappaleena ja olla "klarinetinomainen", siis kuulostaa virtuoosiselta sisältämättä ylittämättömiä teknisiä vaikeuksia.
