Sonata per violoncello e pianoforte

Joonas Kokkonen's Cello Sonata was written in 1976, a period following his opera The Last Temptations (Viimeiset kiusaukset). It contains material related to the opera, albeit transposed to a different atmosphere. On the level of rhythm and texture it also shows connections to Kokkonen's Duo for violin and piano.
