Bergman's hit piece for 3 speakers and speaking (mixed) chorus with a duration of 6 minutes. These 'gallows songs' are settings of poems by Christian Morgenstern. The popular Das grosse Lalula is the first movement of the Vier Galgenlieder. The second is scored for women's voices while the full choir is held in reserve for the third and fourth songs. A rewarding work also from the singers' perspective which employs a varied palette of expressive techniques (1 Das grosse Lalula - 2 Tapetenblume - 3 Igel und Agel - 4 Unter Zeiten).
